About PySTEM Institute
Built by Researchers.
Designed for Students.
PySTEM Institute was founded on a single conviction that students deserve to genuinely understand STEM — not just pass the next test. We bring together research-level expertise in physics, machine learning and computational science with deep Ontario curriculum knowledge — delivering structured, personalised teaching that meets each student exactly where they are and takes them further than they thought possible
To build lasting STEM and computational foundations in Ontario students — through rigorous curriculum support, real scientific thinking, and the kind of patient, personalised teaching that turns confusion into confidence and curiosity into a genuine love of learning.
Our Teaching Philosophy
Six principles we teach by
These are not aspirational statements — they are the specific choices we make in every session, every worksheet, and every feedback conversation.
Understanding over memorisation
We teach the why behind every formula and concept. A student who understands can reconstruct — a student who memorises can only recall.
Structured progression, not random help
Every student follows a clear weekly roadmap built around their grade level, school units, upcoming assessments and long-term goals — not whoever's exam is next.
Real-world connection
Physics, chemistry, mathematics and code are taught with context drawn from research, industry and everyday life — because students learn faster when concepts feel real.
Fix the gap, then go further
We identify and close foundational gaps before advancing. A shaky foundation makes every future concept harder — we don't paper over it with exam tricks.
Honest, clear feedback
Students and parents receive straightforward progress updates — what is strong, what needs work, and exactly what the next steps are. No vague reassurance.
Curriculum-aligned, never limited by it
We meet Ontario curriculum requirements fully — and then we go further for students who are ready, building the skills that matter beyond the next report card.
Our Teaching Values
What we believe every student deserves
These values shape every decision we make — from how we plan a session to how we talk to a student who is stuck.
Patience is non-negotiable
No student is made to feel slow or behind. Every question is a good question. We take the time every concept needs — however long that is.
Every student is capable of advanced thinking
We do not sort students into "gifted" and "struggling." We believe ability is built through the right support, the right sequencing, and time.
Confidence is a learning outcome
Grades matter — but a student who leaves a session feeling capable and less afraid is a student who will study harder and ask better questions in class.
Parents are partners
We keep parents informed with clear, specific updates — not just "going well." Parents who understand what their child is working on are the best support system.
Inclusion is a standard, not a bonus
We apply differentiated instruction for diverse learners — including English Language Learners — consistent with PDSB equity-centred classroom values.
Long-term outcomes over short-term scores
We build skills that carry students forward into university, research and careers — not just strategies that expire after the final exam.
